Rico and Karla went All Out with showbiz royalty: The one and only Optimum Star Claudine Barretto guested live on the show last January 27 to talk about her much-awaited film Deception and more! 

Joining live from her home, Claudine happily expressed that she and her family started off the year very peaceful and happy. “I’m praying na magtuloy-tuloy ‘yan.” And what a start to the year for Claudine – her new movie Deception with Mark Anthony Fernandez was just released! 

Deception is a mystery thriller directed by Joel Lamangan about a woman who is released from jail ten years after being linked to the murder of her husband, starting to connect the dots about what happened on that night. 

“Noong binigay sa akin last year yung script, and sinabi na si Direk Joel Lamangan ang director, and si Mark ang magiging leading man ko, parang it was such a big bonus for me,” Claudine said. “I was really, really excited.” 

Most of us are used to seeing Claudine Barretto in tear-jerking romantic roles, so taking on this suspenseful story was enticing to her. “I’ve only done one movie that was a suspense-thriller-love story. That was Nasaan Ka Man,” she said. “So when they said that I was gonna do another suspense thriller, I was really, really so excited. And I said yes right away!” 

Speaking of her previous roles – it isn’t an interview with Rico and Karla without a round of All Out questions! They asked Claudine about her career and iconic films, and here’s what she had to say.

Someone Claudine looks up to in the industry: Vilma Santos. “I’m a Vilaminian! She’s really my idol.”

Her movie that she still loves to this day: Dahil Mahal Na Mahal Kita. “[It’s] something that I want my kids [to watch], or if anybody would ask, ‘What movie of yours do you want other people to watch?’” 

Unforgettable line from one of her movies: All of them! But most especially the line from Milan: “Mahal mo ba ako dahil kailangan mo ako, o kailangan mo ako kaya mahal mo ako?”

Most famous person she’s met: Vilma Santos and Dolphy. “‘Yun yung palaging na-starstruck ako, and sila I think yung pinakasikat talaga na nakatrabaho ko pa.”

One of the most difficult movies to film: Got To Believe. “Ibang iba siya sa lahat ng movies na ginagawa ko.”

Claudine also revealed that there’s more in store for her this 2022! What can fans look forward to? “This year I’m gonna be doing a teleserye and another movie! So, that’s just about it.
