For Rico and Karla, FANtastic Friday is usually a fun way to end the week at the station, but this time around, they took the fun online! Last April 3, the All Out duo went live on Facebook via Zoom video call with Ellen Adarna, who is in Cebu. Ellen, who was hilarious yet insightful during the session, caught up with Rico and Karla about her wellness retreat in Bali, her current daily routine, and her plans on being a hands-on mom (which means NO SHOWBIZ for a long time!)
When the video call started, Karla couldn’t help but gush over how naturally gorgeous Ellen looked. Later on in the call, Karla said, “You look so bright and light now. You look so happy!” to which Ellen replied, “I am!” The pair agreed that Ellen was undeniably glowing, and the listeners tuned in said the same in the comments.
So what has been keeping our girl Ellen so happy? For one, she’s fresh from the Kokoro Program, a mental training retreat she took in Bali. She only recently became active on social media again, and shared a bit of her journey with her followers. “I didn’t expect that I would get better,” Ellen told the All Out duo. “But then after I came back here, I was a different person.”
Karla asked about Ellen’s audience’s reception to her posts about the retreat break. “Was it positive? What did people say?” Ellen happily told her that there were barely any bashers that she could just count them by hand! She got many positive comments from people saying they could relate with her.
Three years without social media paid off! And according to the hands-on momma, she has no plans of returning to the spotlight any time soon. The BIG reveal came when Karla asked, “Are you making comeback after all of this is over?”
Ellen’s reply got Karla and Rico shook (their mouths literally just hung open and they were speechless for a second)! “To show biz? No. I don’t wanna say forever, but definitely not in the next seven years!” For now, her focus will be on her son Elias and being there for him in his formative years. Way to go, mom!
Ellen laughed and said that people don’t usually expect her to be a hands-on mom, because they expect to still see her partying and drinking in the club! “He’s gonna be one happy, happy, happy kid,” Karla said, commending Ellen’s decision to leave show business to focus on motherhood.
So, without show biz in the way, what does a normal day look like for Ellen Adarna? She took Rico, Karla, and the listeners through her everyday routine, which involves waking up early to meditate, having breakfast and play time with her son, and a healthy amount of me time. “Me time is essential to be a happy individual!” Advice taken, Ellen!
Most of her time now is spent at home (much like the rest of us), but once the quarantine period is lifted, Ellen is looking forward to getting a pedicure, getting her hair done, and getting a very relaxing massage (“COVID-free masahista, pleaaaase!” she joked). Her post-retreat program also involves not having any meat or alcoholic drinks for 100 days, but once the hundred days are up, she can’t wait to eat her most favorite comfort food: shawarma!
Rico and Karla learned many more fun facts about Ellen with their random, fun questions. Favorite movie? Before Sunrise, she can watch it over and over again. Hidden talent? She can play “A Thousand Miles” on the piano with her eyes closed. The best thing she can cook? Lechon paksiw, Cebuana style. “Lahat ng boyfriends ko, na-in love don! May asim ba pa? Yes, through my paksiw!” Rico and Karla lost it when she said that!
To wrap up the FANtastic Friday video call, Ellen thanked all the fans tuned in for rooting for her happiness, and gave some advice for those who don’t feel happy right now: “Life is a vicious cycle, it’s normal to have ups and downs. My favorite quote is ‘Everything is going to be okay. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.’ Char!”
