Over a year since their last Manila show, Red Velvet rocked ReVeluv’s worlds once again with their first ever fan concert “HAPPINESS : My Dear, ReVe1uv” held last September 14 at the Mall of Asia Arena!
The Manila stop was particularly special for Filo Luvies as it marked the first OT5 show in the country since 2022. Joy missed the girls’ last “R to V” concert due to health issues, while only Irene, Seulgi, and Wendy visited the country for a New Year’s Eve party early this year.
“Last time, we promised you guys that we’ll come back here in Manila as five. I’m happy that we made that promise,” main vocalist Wendy told the crowd in English. Thank you for keeping your promise, our cake girls!
The three-hour sold out show was the perfect encapsulation of the iconic girl group’s 10 years in the K-Pop industry. Kicking off with a performance of their debut song ‘Happiness,’ Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Joy took us back to the very beginning of Red Velvet’s journey, as the group initially debuted in 2014 with just the four members. Yeri, who joined the group in 2015, then appeared on the extended stage to deliver a short solo performance that was nothing short of magical! She then rushed to the main stage to join her unnies for the fan fave ‘Ice Cream Cake.’ While it was a high-energy set, it was also so emotional to witness! OT5 forever!
From feel good tracks such as ‘Sunny Afternoon’ and ‘Sunflower’ to sultrier songs like ‘Underwater’ and ‘Knock Knock (Who’s There?)’, the fancon’s 20-song repertoire showcased both “Red” and “Velvet” sides of the group’s discography. Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Joy’s respective solo intro performances were also some of the night’s highlights, reflecting their distinct colors. And of course, Red Velvet’s performances of some of their biggest hits such as ‘Bad Boy,’ ‘Psycho,’ ‘Feel My Rhythm,’ ‘Cosmic,’ ‘Red Flavor’ were not to be missed!
However, Red Velvet wasn’t the only one to give it their all that night – Filo Luvies made sure to show their passion and endless support for the group through their many fan projects! The girls were touched by the fans’ hand and roll down banners, paper planes and special confetti with supportive messages, as well as the rainbow light ocean. To top it all off, the MOA Arena crowd sustained their crazy energy from start to finish, singing and dancing to all the songs! Yeri had only this to say: “Out of all the countries for the fan con, the energy in the Philippines is truly the best!”
Thank you for a night of true happiness, Red Velvet! Indeed, “loving you is the easiest thing we have ever done.” ’Til your next PH show!
