American pop-rock band The Maine made a triumphant return to the Philippines as they took over the SM North EDSA Skydome for their “The Sweet Sixteen” tour! Held last September 27-28, The Monster got to join in on the Day 1 fun and we’re here to give you the rundown!

As the show was a celebration of the band’s 16 years in the music industry, the first night’s setlist was stacked with tracks from each of their nine studio albums, showcasing the group and their sound’s evolution through the years all in one night.

With electrifying performances of ‘Un(Lost),’ ‘Numb Without You,’ ‘Forever Halloween,’ ‘Black Butterflies and Déjà Vu,’ ’Girls Do What They Want,’  ‘Taxi,’ and ‘Dirty, Pretty Beautiful,’ and more, The Maine had the entire Skydome shaking as the Filo 8123 fam sang, screamed, and jumped along to every song!

At one point, the band asked the crowd to choose what they would like to see The Maine perform, bringing out a sound level meter so that fans could cheer as loud as they could for the song they’d like to hear! Between ‘Bad Behavior’ and ‘Slip the Noose,’ it was the latter that won with a whopping 122, breaking Singapore’s record of 116. Not surprising, of course - Pinoy fans are special, after all!

Another highlight is when The Maine frontman and lead singer John O’Callaghan asked the crowd to form a circle and create a space in the middle so he could come down and jam with everyone. And while it was an amazing night for all, we’re sure the one fan who was asked to join John, lead guitarist Jared Monaco, bass guitarist Garrett Nickelsen, drummer Patrick Kirch, and rhythm guitarist Kennedy Brock on stage to sing with them had an even better time! That’s a core memory right there!

The band then wrapped up the show with ‘Another Night on Mars,’ perfectly encapsulating the bond between The Maine and the 8123 Family. “With friends like ours, anywhere is home” indeed.

Post-concert, The Maine had this to say about Manila:

We’re glad you had a rockin’ experience with us the way we always do with you, The Maine! The Philippines will always be ready to welcome y’all back!

Huge thanks to PULP Live World for making this event possible.
