When the beat of the drums and the strum of the rhythmic guitar of ‘Laklak’ is heard, best believe it’s time to open that bottle of beer and sing along to the tunes of 90s rock staple TEETH! The renowned rock band rocked out with the Monsters on the Concert Series for a reunion set last October.

Formed in 1993, the band consists of members Glenn Jacinto (vocals), Jerome Velasco (guitar), Pedz Narvaja (bass), Mike Dizon (drums), and Dok Sergio (guitar). The band describes their sound as alternative rock and grunge. Their 1995 track ‘Laklak’ became a hit song and was dubbed the nation’s drinking anthem due to the song's theme. Teeth was a household name back in the early days, and their popularity grew more when ‘Prinsesa’ also started to be popular among the Filipino masses. ‘Prinsesa’ stood against the test of time, and nostalgic bands like 6CycleMind and modern-day artist Daniel Padilla released their version of the song! The song’s organic growth proved how Teeth is just as prominent in the OPM industry.

The band reunited last month for their 30th anniversary, hence their busy schedule of shows and gigs. Their latest release was a single in 2019 titled ‘Baga at Usok’. Some of the band members did hint at recording something new, but there’s nothing set in stone yet as vocalist Glenn Jacinto would be bound for the US again, where he is currently based. He also mentioned on their Concert Series guesting that he is thinking of going back to the Philippines for good. Hopefully, that thought becomes a reality, and Teeth will still rock and roll until the very end!
