It's always a pleasure having Ben&Ben on the Monster and this time on The Daily Survey with JC, they're back and they are complete! The band were very high on energy and it's so refreshing to see them like that. Miguel Benjamin even jokingly replied "We're just getting started." when JC asked them if their Monster interview is their 12th interview of the day! The members still got their sense of humor intact!
Ben&Ben recently released a collaborative single titled "Lunod" which is the 5th single on their latest album "Pebble House, Vol. 1: Kuwaderno". The single also featured Juan Karlos Labajo and Zild Benitez. Their new single talks about mental health, mainly anxiety. "We tried to use the metaphor of drowning, as in literally drowning and illustrate what that experience is like to further describe also what being anxious or being overwhelmed with heavy thoughts feels like." Paolo Benjamin shared. "Lunod" also takes from the band's whole and individual experiences especially during summer of this year when they faced difficult circumstances in and out of the band. This song is their way of rising above those challenges that they faced hence the creation of "Lunod".
The band described working with Juan Karlos and Zild as a "really interesting experience" as both artists gave new layers of depth to the song. Andrew De Pano analyzes Zild's singing as imploding and deep while Juan Karlos is more explosive and energetic, giving the analogy how the way both of these singers sing is just like how anxiety is to other people. The collaboration between these artists are truly dynamic and it definitely resonated in the song "Lunod".
Their new album "Pebble House, Vol. 1: Kuwaderno" really went all out with collaborations like Moira Dela Torre on "Pasalubong", SB19 on "Kapangyarihan", Chito Miranda on "Swimming Pool", to name a few. It wasn't Ben&Ben's intention at first to make the album seem collaborative but at some point, it became a good idea to them as it opened a way for artists of different music styles to work together which resulted into a beautiful masterpiece. It was also a learning experience from them as they did learn so much about how different ideas and dynamics work.
In terms of a Vol. 2, the band did confirm there will be one but it's still on the shelf as they would still work on it. Better stay tuned for that in the near future!
Ben&Ben will have an upcoming online concert this December 5, the first major concert they'll be having after 1 and a half year! Pat Lasaten recalled how much fun and energizing performing live feels for them pre-pandemic and how much they missed playing in front of an audience. The other members also jumped in on how much they missed performing, reminscing on their on-stage moments like how Keifer Cabugao would play rock-paper-scissors with the audience, throwing free stickers around, making connection to their Liwanags.
Their upcoming concert is titled "Kuwaderno" and they'll be performing at the Smart Araneta Coliseum live. Since this will be their first major concert, the band are really determined to give their all. From conceptualizing to performing, it'll definitely be a show to remember! They also mentioned on how they collaborated with several production members to flesh out their ideas and make it true to life. Miguel Benjamin gave a little sneak peek on how the concert will be like, hinting that there will be elements of theater, dance besides music and how their stage design is truly something new. Of course, the artists they collaborated with will also be making an appearance on this concert. We can already imagine how wonderful and a spectacular experience "Kuwaderno" is gonna be! Tickets are on sale at KTX.ph, don't miss this one Monsters and Liwanags!
We're rooting for Ben&Ben as the years go by and it won't be long until they reach the success that they truly deserve! Ben&Ben are making a name in OPM as they continue rising with relatable, heartwarming lyrics and beautifully-made music on the various instruments that they play.
