SB19’s vocalist and maknae Justin ventured on another solo path with his recent release ‘kaibigan’. Justin has also released two other singles before ‘kaibigan’ titled ‘sunday morning’ and ‘surreal’ respectively. 

Justin unfolds ‘kaibigan’ as a story of platonic love and being put in the friend zone despite assuming otherwise. “Alam niyo yung the moment, minsan nung high school, parang ino-overthink mo lahat ng kilos nung crush mo, nung friend mo na parang, “Super clingy mo naman!” pero sa sarili mo lang. “May something ba ‘yan??” Parang ganiyan, pero at the end of the day, “Ay.. Ganun lang pala talaga siya as a person.” Justin brings this collective experience into lyrics, turning a lovelorn situation into a beautiful song.

When asked to describe what the song’s sound would be like, Justin shared suffering, confusion, and love. ‘Kaibigan’ is as much of a story as it is a song, and if you listen to the track and watch the bittersweet movie-esque music video, you would then understand where Justin is coming from.

Whether you’re a long-time A’TIN, solo stan or casual fan, you’d at least get a grasp of how Justin is serious in his craft, including creating art. He has been known to take up directing and we have expected ‘kaibigan’ to be well-made in all aspects. From its heartfelt lyrics to the relatable, coming-of-age vibe of the music video, Justin once again delivered on his own!  

We can’t wait to see what more of himself will he unleash through the years and how his craft will bring him and his team more achievements in the future. We’re all rooting for you, Justin and SB19!
