Debuting in 2019 under JYP Entertainment, the five-piece K-pop girl group ITZY consisting of members Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryoung, and Yuna, finally reunited with their Filipino MIDZYs after three years!

The girl group held a press event at Glorietta last January 13, presented by LiveNation PH and hosted by our own Rico Robles. ITZY’s appearance at Glorietta made this the biggest event ever held at the said mall! The love and support ITZY gets from their Filipino fans resonated at the press event

The girls of ITZY introduced themselves in full Filipino! “Kamusta kayo?” Leader Yeji greeted with a huge smile. “Namiss ko kayo MIDZY!” Even with a “cheat sheet,” Lia still managed to pull off her Tagalog skills! “Masaya akong makita kayo!” Ryujin confidently said. “Mahal namin kayo!” Chaeryoung sweetly assured the fans. “Kumain ka na, MIDZY?” The lovely maknae Yuna playfully asked MIDZYs. 

Media outlets asked ITZY questions about their group, being in the Philippines, their first-ever world tour, and more!

When asked what they were most grateful for entering the year 2023, leader Yeji expressed how happy she gets to start the year with their fans. Regarding their group chemistry, Ryujin mentioned, “Because we practice a lot, teamwork comes naturally.” ITZY is all about that hard work! We can say that paid off as ITZY has already achieved a lot in 3 years.

When it comes to rising expectations and keeping their motivations intact, they are all thanks to MIDZYs! Lia exclaimed how it was all because of their fans that they could be thankful for receiving such precious awards. All the love they get from their MIDZYs reflects in their performances resulting in bigger and better energy on stage, which keeps them motivated! 

ITZY was in the country in December 2019 for their Premiere Showcase tour in Manila, making the Manila stop of their CHECKMATE 1st World Tour their second time in the Philippines! Ryujin said she expected more cheers from fans as they were back in the country. When it comes to places in the Philippines they want to visit, Boracay is at the top of their list! Of course, trying Filipino food is a must every time idols visit the country. Chaeryoung has wanted to try halo-halo! As for the Filipino phrases they learned, Yeji confidently told Filipino MIDZYs, “Salamat po” and “Mahal namin kayo!” 

Talking about their CHECKMATE 1st World Tour, Lia says she has made a lot of great memories with MIDZYs and her members so far, and assures that the following stops will be as impressive! Traveling to different countries and getting to know MIDZYs all over the world has been one of the highlights as well. Yuna revealed that all the songs on their CHECKMATE album are part of the concert setlist and solo stages! About their next comeback, Yuna refused to spoil anything! “It’s a secret,” the maknae playfully answered when asked. MIDZYs should look forward to what ITZY is about to bring to the table! 

Following the press event was their two-day concert held at MOA Arena last January 14-15 for the Asia stop of their CHECKMATE 1st World Tour!
