Last Thursday, April 23, the All Out duo was joined by Ylona Garcia on All Out! Rico and Karla went live on Facebook with the 18-year-old singer to find out what she’s been up to and engage with her fans in a little Q&A.
We saw firsthand how dedicated Ylona’s fanbase is – they got excited once they heard about her guesting and spread the good news on their social media fan pages! Fans also took the opportunity to send in questions for Ylona (or Ylo, as some call her) through the RX93.1 Twitter and Instagram. And they’ll be pleased to know that Ylo loves her fans just as much as she loves them! So much, that she even said she won’t put her career on pause for college because she wants to stay connected to her fans as much as possible.
She started telling Rico and Karla about her college plans, saying that she plans to take up business in Sydney, Australia. When they asked her if she’ll stay in showbiz while attending school, Ylo answered, “I’ll do both at the same time. There’s no way I’d ever leave my fans!” How awesome of her!
Not only is she kind, loving, and talented, but man, this girl is quite wise, too! No matter what the three talked about during the livestream, Ylona always shared some very smart insights – it’s hard to believe she’s only 18 years old with a mind like that! Speaking of being 18, we also got the scoop on her recent debut. Apparently, she didn’t originally want a big party, but she gave in to her mom’s request to have one, as long as she has control over the theme, guests, décor, and everything. “I admit I was a bit of a diva,” she laughed about it, but her designer Gideon Hermosa (one of the most well-known in the industry!) was very considerate of all her notes.
It was a grand 50s-themed debut, which was inspired by her grandfather. “What I love about parties is where you create everlasting memories; memories that should make you happy. So, I thought, what makes me happy? What can I share with everybody? And I immediately thought of my grandpa,” Ylona explained. “He would always take me to the park, get me some McDonald’s, and sing these 50’s songs, especially ‘Unchained Melody.’” That’s what inspired her to take the party guests back to the 1950s! And Karla absolutely loved it, saying it’s so much more special when you know the deeper meaning behind it.
Just like any other teenager, though, Ylona has had her fair share of moments she wishes she could re-do. She told Rico and Karla all about the time she came face-to-face with one of her biggest crushes, Cole Sprouse, and couldn’t get a word out! The two were at an event for Bench, and she was overthinking so much that she didn’t get to ask him the questions she wanted to ask about balancing university and acting career. Cole did get to say something to her, though: You’re so small! “I was like, I’ll take it, I’ll take it…” Ylona said when she recalled their encounter.
Ylona, Karla, and Rico of course talked about the quarantine period and what she’s been up to the past month or so. She talked about her favorite books, her vivid dreams (meeting Taylor Swift and Snoop Dogg, which sound like amazing dreams), her food cravings (someone send this girl some quesadillas and California rolls!), and the first thing she wants to do when quarantine is over: have a spa day and go to the book store. She also answered some questions sent in by fans on the RX93.1 social media accounts like: “Are you going back to acting?” “What songs have you been playing on repeat?” “What’s your current morning routine?” If you wanna find out her answers, go check out the livestream on our Facebook! *wink wink*
As for music, Ylo does have something in the works, so keep an eye out for it! We can’t wait to hear it! She talked a little bit about the back stories of her songs “Space” and “Maybe a Little Bit,” and sang a couple of lines from them, too. Ylona closed the show treating everyone to some of her violin skills, and of course, she gave a message to her fans as well. “Stay safe, stay kind, stay clean, stay passionate about what you do,” she told the listeners. “Make sure to exercise if you can. Exercise is really good! Talk to me if you ever need anything.”
