Just a few days after his elimination from the PBB house, the actor went live on the Monster to talk about his journey on the famed reality show. When asked why he decided to accept the invitation to join Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition, Albie said, “I feel like it could change my life.” He took it as an opportunity for self-growth and a chance to try something new for the first time in a while. “You can’t grow in your comfort zone.”
Albie took this attitude to heart, even after exiting the house. “Just being inside, it does something to you. You’re forced to look at yourself and all that.” After some reflection, Albie realized the impact of his recent mistakes. “I wanna apologize for some comments I made before I got into the house. I made those comments because I was trying to be funny. I was trying to be ‘no filter.’”
“Of course, I’m not, like, washing my hands [of the incident]. I did mean to say something mean to someone, and that’s wrong, man. I totally understand that now,” Albie continued. “Like I said, I’m human, I get better everyday. And I wanna learn from my mistakes.”
Though at the time, Albie thought his comments would be taken as lighthearted and funny, he realizes that he crossed a line and hurt some people in the process. “There was a lot of pent up pain and anger and frustration. But again, I shouldn’t be releasing more hate into the world,” Albie admitted. “So to everyone who was hurt by the statement, I truly am sorry about it.”
He said that many people might expect him to just keep quiet about the situation, but he doesn’t want to let it just blow over. He’d rather own up to his mistakes and apologize for them. “When I came out [of the house], I just saw things differently.”
Albie, who entered the PBB house in October, revealed that the reason he joined later than the other housemates was because he actually got COVID. “It was crazy,” Albie said, although he still felt well enough to go about his usual routine. “I was still working out twice a day. That’s why I was so jacked when I got into the house!”
Fitness wasn’t the only thing Albie was known for! Many fans flooded the livestream comments section asking about ‘ShaiBie’ – his pairing with housemate Shanaia Gomez. Was there really something going on between the two? “She was just a little crush I had in the house! You know? But that’s it,” Albie responded. “I just have a little crush on her. I don’t even know if she likes me too.”
Whether or not the two became (or will become) an item, it’s clear that they’ve got lots of fans shipping them! But Albie decided not to comment any further on the situation before Shaiana gets to talk about her side of things.
Still, he supports Shanaia all the way on the PBB journey! “I want either her, Anji [Salvacion], or KD [Estrada] to win the show,” he admitted. Albie has also got his bets for who could make it to the Big Four: He named Madam Inutz, Brenda Mage, Alyssa Valdez, and a tie up between Eian Rances and Kyle Echarri.
Now that his Pinoy Big Brother journey has come to an end, Albie is grateful for all the fans – new and old – who continue to shower him with support. He’s been overwhelmed with all the messages he’s been receiving on social media, but he says he’s “trying to slowly come back to reality!”
What’s next for Albie? He’s got an upcoming project in January with director Rod Singh! He can’t say much about it yet, so you’ll have to stay tuned for more news about it in the future!
