Charlie Puth reunited with Filipino fans last October 14 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena for his ‘Whatever’s Clever!’ Tour, marking his first concert in the Philippines since August 2016. Reflecting on the decade that had passed, Charlie Puth acknowledged how much had changed in his life and his fans' lives.

The concert brought together songs from different eras of Charlie Puth’s musical career. Fans revisited familiar hits such as ‘See You Again,’ ‘Attention,’ ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore,’ and ‘One Call Away’ while also hearing newer tracks from his latest album, ‘Whatever’s Clever!’ The setlist gave fans a chance to experience both the songs that introduced them to Charlie Puth’s music and the sound he's developed over the years.

Beyond the music, the night reunited Charlie Puth with the Filipino fans who supported him throughout his career. After a decade away from the Philippines, Charlie Puth reflected on how much can change over ten years.

"God, ten years. I have changed a lot as a person in ten years, I think. We all have. For artists, we write about different things we experience, the different things in life. We make movies, and we make songs, and we make poems about them. That’s what the artists do"

Charlie Puth opened the concert with ‘Beat Yourself Up,’ a song that encourages listeners to show themselves some compassion instead of being overly critical of their mistakes. The song introduced a different side of Charlie Puth, who has returned to Manila after ten years, showing new experiences and changes that have shaped him since his last visit. For fans who have followed him since the beginning, hearing his latest songs alongside his familiar hits offered a glimpse of how far Charlie Puth has come.

Among the familiar tracks was ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore,’ a song that holds a special memory for Charlie Puth because of his time in the Philippines. He recalled creating the beat in his hotel room and being immersed in the local culture during his visit.

"Making 'We Don't Talk Anymore' in the hotel room was a pretty great memory. Whatever hotel we were staying at, I just remember being immersed in the culture for the first time."

The memory gave the song a deeper connection to the night, bringing together the music fans had cherished for many years and the place that had become a part of its story.

The night reached its emotional finale as Charlie Puth performed ‘One Call Away’ and ‘See You Again,’ bringing some of his most familiar songs to a crowd that had waited years to hear him live again. The sing-along reminded everyone of the lasting connection between the singer and his Filipino fans, whose support has been part of his journey since his early years in music. After a decade apart, the songs felt like a reunion, bringing the night to a full-circle moment.

Thank you, Charlie Puth, for coming back to the Philippines and reminding us that some connections remain, no matter how much time passes.
