ENHYPEN proved that they are a force to be reckoned with as they successfully wrapped up their first world tour with three days of ‘MANIFESTO’ in Manila from February 3 to 5 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
A relatively young KPop group, the seven members of ENHYPEN Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-Ki debuted during the pandemic through the survival reality show ‘I-LAND’. But even with just under two years of experience, there is no denying that they are a 4th Gen powerhouse – with double million-selling albums and sold-out arena concerts under their belt!
The Monster was present during Day 1 of their sold out Manila stop, and it was an insane experience! Here are three things that made it a night to remember:
1. SHOW-STOPPING PERFORMANCES
With a banger setlist that took Filo ENGENEs on a journey through the group’s different eras, ENHYPEN wowed the crowd with their incredible command of the stage, powerful dance moves and incredible vocals! They opened the show with ‘Intro: Walk the Line’ and ‘Given-Taken’, followed by b-sides ‘Flicker,’ ‘Not For Sale,’ ‘Let Me In,’ ‘TFW,’ ‘Upper Side Dreaming,’ and ‘Mixed Up’.
The second section was then filled with performances that showcased the group’s range, from powerful to sexy to cute. They sang and danced their way to ENGENEs’ hearts with ‘Drunk-Dazed,’ ‘One In A Billion’, ‘FEVER,’ ‘Attention, please!,’ ‘Polaroid Love,’ ‘Just A Little Bit’, and ‘Tamed-Dashed.’
The last part of the show before the encore was where the party began, with the whole arena singing their hearts out and jumping to ‘Blessed-Cursed’, ‘Go Big or Go Home,’ ‘WALK THE LINE,’ and ‘Future Perfect (Pass the MIC).’ After a short break, ENHYPEN returned to the stage with rousing performances of ‘ParadoxXx Invasion,’ ‘SHOUT OUT,’ and another round of ‘Let Me In’.
2. TOP-NOTCH FAN SERVICE & ADORABLE INTERACTIONS
ENHYPEN visited the Philippines for the first time last December for their first fan meeting in the country, but this is their first full concert here – so they made sure to connect with their beloved Filo ENGENEs! The boys went down the stage to hold hands and take selfies with the crowd not once, but twice! First for ‘Polaroid Love’, then for their back-to-back performance of ‘Let Me In’ and ‘Go Big or Go Home’.
Fans were also treated to Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon and Ni-Ki’s versions of the iconic choreography in the dance break between ‘One In A Billion’ and ‘Fever’, which had the boys doing sexy body rolls while biting down the collars of their shirts! The fans lost their minds!
On the flipside, the members made the crowd swoon with their playful side through eye contact while doing aegyo and finger hearts galore. Sunoo even wanted to show a special aegyo for Filo ENGENES, giving the biggest heart pose while jumping! What a cutie!
The arena was also hyped up when the boys showed they learned a new Filipino word aside from the usual “
Mahal kita” and “
Salamat”, screaming “
Sumigaw!” which they meant as “make some noise.” Best believe ENGENEs did not disappoint, the cheers were deafening!
And finally, what is perhaps the most unexpected line of the night came from Heeseung. After finding out what Filo ENGENEs meant as they continuously chanted “
Walang uuwi” throughout the concert, he said in Korean: “Shall we spend the night together?” Cue collective screaming.
3. NEXT LEVEL CROWD ENERGY
“This may not be the biggest arena we’ve been to, but this is definitely the loudest,” Jake said. Leader Jungwon also, said that “Philippine fans are the most passionate” – and we couldn’t agree more!
From before the boys even went up on stage to their final curtain call, Filo ENGENEs made sure ENHYPEN will never forget the Manila stop of their tour with their insane energy, which did not falter once. When the boys asked the crowd to sing ‘Polaroid Love,’ the fans showed off the world-renowned karaoke skills of Filipinos. They also sang Jungwon a birthday song for his special day on February 9.
Filo ENGENEs’ fan project was also a success, and the members were visibly touched seeing everyone hold up orange banners while singing the fandom’s special song ‘SHOUT OUT’. It was such an endearing sight.
As the ENHYPEN boys said, this is only the beginning. We can’t wait for your next tour, boys! Your Filo ENGENEs will be waiting!
