A veteran icon in the OPM industry, Ely Buendia continues to surprise Monsters with his musical artistry. The musical legend released his sophomore album ‘Method Adaptor’ last November and took us on a rock-and-roll whirlwind in and out of the record!

Ely Buendia has had his hands full since releasing his latest album with promotions, shows, and even a tour in the works. The artist wants to have a nationwide tour in the summer and is already planning its logistics, so that’s a good start for fans and music-enjoyers who’ve been dying to see the icon up close and hear all of his greatest hits LIVE!

Talking about his album ‘Method Adaptor,’ Ely came up with his sophomore album almost 25 years after his first album ‘Wanted Bedscaper’ was released back in 2000. The icon dug deep into the reasons why he was inspired to create a new album again after 2 decades, and it was all because of his love for creative processes and being inspired by the new generation of OPM! “The scene right now is very exciting; there’s a lot of new talent going around.” ena mori, Pinkmen, and Alyson, all of which hail from Offshore Music, were mentioned by Ely Buendia as his current musical inspirations. How heartwarming and thrilling it is for these newer artists to hear that the one and only Ely Buendia was heavily inspired by their art and the music that they put out to the audience! Because of the dynamic synergy that newer artists bring to the table by being more experimental and intentional with the sound they want, made THE Ely Buendia want to start writing lyrics and creating melodies again. Thus the birth of ‘Method Adaptor’.

Besides music, Ely also took inspiration from actors and their creative processes. “I got inspired by how they create performances.” He dived deep into how the creative minds and pursuits of actors work, adapting their methods and being inspired by them, hence the title. Besides music, he also has a passion for film and filmmaking, even taking up a directing gig for a 2014 crime-drama film titled ‘Bang Bang Alley’. Ely continues to stay true to his creative self, having more of a passionate interest in writing, whether for sound or screen.

Ely Buendia continues to stay on top of the Filipino music scene while also giving way to the new guards, even being influenced by their unique style and artistry and adapting it into his sound. His role as an artist goes way beyond singing in front of the microphone and shredding guitar chords, it’s making space for rising young talents and giving them a chance to achieve records that he has already reached.
