Karpos Live is never one to miss out on exclusive international artists of different genres. This time they brought renowned English beatmaker Jamie xx for an electrifying, groovy set last November 19 at the Filinvest Tent, Alabang as part of his In Waves Tour in Asia!

Jamie xx has been around the music scene since 2006 as part of the electronic/indie band The xx. The band continued making waves in the underground music industry with their hypnotic and upbeat tracks like ‘Stars’, ‘VCR,’ ‘Angels,’ ‘On Hold’, just to name a few. Jamie xx played the role of mix master of the band and now focuses on his solo gigs, as we know him now.

The In Waves show in Manila started on different levels of intensity as the opening act, George C, took the crowd into several dimensions with a wide range of music blasted throughout the tent. From upbeat electro to snazzy reggae, to house trance - it was a whirlwind of beats and instrumentals that pumped up the crowd and gave them the energy they needed for the main event.

After an hour of mixing tunes, George C then gave the floor to Jamie xx. Jamie xx started strong with power tracks ‘Dafodil,’ ‘Wanna,’ and ‘Treat Each Other Right’ from his ‘In Waves’ album. Colorful, flashing lights and a dancing crowd were expected that night and it was definitely in full motion! The bass pumped up some more and tracks from ‘In Color’ and his singles ‘All Under One Roof Raving’, ‘idontknow,’ ‘LET’S DO IT AGAIN,’ the crowd-favorite ‘Waited All Night’ and more blasted throughout the tent! It was one hell of a big dance party! 

The Manila crowd definitely knows how to turn up to good music, but Jamie xx pulled off such a solid set that the show felt like a rave, a party, and a disco all at once! Adrenalines were in such euphoric highs which left a lasting memory of a damn good time.
