Fans have been waiting for a while for this moment – finally indie-pop artist Fiji Blue paid the Philippines a visit last week, November 17! The intimate Samsung Hall was filled with 2 hours of ambient sounds that gave Filipino fans a rollercoaster of emotions.

Fiji Blue, consisting of guitarist & singer-songwriter Trevor Dering and producer Valentin Fritz, has been around the music scene since 2018 with their first single ‘Indigo’. They dub their music style as “sad boy chill house” with genres ranging from indie, pop, r&b, house and funk.

For the first time, Fiji Blue frontman Trevor Dering played their first show in Manila as a part of their Asia Tour ‘22. The singer-songwriter repeatedly exclaimed how he’s been wanting to do a Manila show, even telling his manager to do multiple shows in the country soon!

Fiji Blue started the night with anthems ‘Affection’, ‘Butterflies’, ‘Day By Day’ and ‘Picture’ which are definitely crowd favorites! Not long after he smoothly serenaded Filipino fans with ‘How Can I Tell You?’ and a stripped down version of ‘Waves’. The change of pace made the fans swoon with this new rendition.

In-between songs, one lucky fan braved the show by impressing Trevor with some magic tricks. We say “lucky” because Trevor called the fan on stage! Introducing himself as Reggie, the fan definitely had ~magical~ tricks up his sleeve with the use of cards and a sleight of hand. Trevor was definitely mind blown! Reggie’s luck never ran out as he even got Trevor to sign a card for him, with the use of magic of course. Reggie now has this moment engraved in his memory, and we can’t help but be amused by his confidence in delighting Trevor and the crowd through the use of amazing card tricks!

The show went on and Fiji Blue had the crowd going through a series of emotions with their songs happy dancing with ‘I Should’ve Told You’ and the beloved ‘Space Makes Me Sad’, melancholy vibing with ‘Numb’ and a cover of John Mayer’s ‘Slow Dancing In A Burning Room’. The atmosphere was a mix of groovy and sentimental, thanks to Fiji Blue! The show ended with the hit song ‘It Takes Two’ and an encore set of ‘New Love’ and ‘Outside’.
