It was a night to remember for Filipino metalheads last Wednesday, March 29, as Finnish band Nightwish brought their symphonic melodies to our shores for the first time!
The iconic symphonic metal band composed of Floor Jansen (vocals), Tuomas Holopainen (keyboard), Emppu Vuorinen (guitar), Troy Donockley (uilleann pipes), Kai Hahto (drums), and Jukka Koskinen (bass guitar) was supposed to take the New Frontier Theater stage last January, but the concert was postponed due to Jansen’s health complications. So when the show finally pushed through at the SM North Skydome, you can just imagine the happiness of their fans. The energy of the crowd was crazy!
Nightwish’s setlist was a mix of iconic hits and tracks from their latest album ‘Human :||: Nature’. From ‘Sleeping Sun,’ ‘Nemo,’ and ‘Ghost Love Score’ to ‘Noise,’ ‘Travel,’ and ‘Ad Astra,’ they made sure to take their fans on a majestic metal journey throughout the night!
It was especially incredible to see Floor headbang galore without missing a single soaring note – all while carrying a little one in her tummy. Now that’s what you call a super mom!
Nightwish is just one of many metal bands making their way to Manila this year. Exciting times ahead for Filipino metalheads, indeed!
Huge thanks to Pulp Live World for making this event possible.
