MONSTER SCHOLARS 2010 GET LUCKY BREAK

Monster Radio RX 93.1 has always been different from other pop stations.  Its drive for excellence has won it an unprecedented six Best FM Station Awards from the KBP Golden Dove Awards.  And instead of simply giving away big contest prizes to its listeners such as gadgets, cars, and overseas trips, it wants to mean something more, something deeper.

Thus it launched the Search For The Monster Scholar, hoping to award one semester of free college education (tuition and fees, and allowance in some cases) to students with pressing financial difficulty who have the potential to succeed in their chosen programs.  Students who believe in the value of their education and just need a helping hand to continue it.

Last year, the Monster Scholarship Program benefited five fortunate Scholars.

For the first semester of School Year 2010 to 2011, the Search For The Monster Scholar presents as its official Monster Scholars, Judy Anne Beltran, 3rd Year Nursing at Manila Doctors College and Redin Palomar, 5th Year Electronics Communications Engineering at Technological Insitute Of The Philippines.

But because of the tremendous response from Monster Radio RX 93.1's listeners and sponsors, nine other Monster Scholars were given the lucky break to enroll this semester.  Through the generosity of Dobbin and Eliza Tan: Areane Reyes, 4th Year at UERM MMC.  Through the generosity of a fan of RX: Mary Grace Mactal, 2nd year Political Science, University of Makati.

Through the generosity of a guest of Heard On Thursdays and the Morning Rushers: Rochelle Piramide, 4th year Nursing, UERM MMC.  Through the generosity of the Moss Triathlon Team: Marie Cris Betis, 3rd year Information Technology, Technological Institute of the Philippines.  Through the generosity of a friend of RX: Emma Charmaine Gonzalez, Graduating student, Business Administration, Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

Through the generosity of San Beda High School Class of ’79 and the Morning Rushers: Mary Adrienne Paz-Ferrido, 3rd year Secondary Education, University of Santo Tomas.  Through the generosity of an anonymous donor: Jude Valdez, 4th year Advertising and Public Relations, Polytechnic University of the Philippines.  Through the generosity of Kristina Santos and an avid listener of RX: Hazel Anne Santos, 2nd year Industrial Engineering, University of the Philippines Diliman.  And through the generosity of Hospira employees: Jodelyn Dantes, 2nd year Accountancy, Mapua Institute of Technology Makati.

Aside from the regular Monster Scholarship Program, RX 93.1 also conducted The Search For The Monster Scholar Special Edition - "This Is I.T." - in partnership with the Cosmopoint International Institute Of Technology - awarding five needy high school graduates with full scholarships to study two-year information technology courses at CIIT.

The Search For The Monster Scholar (The Monster Scholarship Program) is a continuing project of Manila's Hottest Monster Radio RX 93.1.  Through it, the multi-awarded and highly rated pop station wants to highlight the power and value of a good education, and the heartening fact that an act of kindness can mean a world of difference in people's lives.
